The first and only ice tunnel in Northern Europe will be built inside the Juvfonna ice patch in may 2010.
Four French men are coming to Jotunheimen (Lom, Norway) to build an ice tunnel in Juvfonna ice patch at the foot of Galdhøpiggen. The French experts have already worked with ice before both on Svalbard and in the Alps. The whole work will be done by hand! The only equipment they are going to use, is axes.
The ice tunnel will be about 30 meters long, 2,5 meters high and 1,5 meters broad. There will be a lot of interesting things both outside and inside the tunnel. Norway's foremost sculptor is hired to help us modell the tunnel. So many exciting surprises will be waiting for you there!
We who work in the Klimapark2469, hope that the ice tunnel will be an unforgettable journey in time for the most tourists in Jotunheimen - both those who are specially interested in history, archaeology, glaciology and those who searc for the unique experiences in the beautiful norwegian nature.
