Oppland has a rich cultural life that is characterized by variation, creativity and high quality. To have an active cultural life has a value of its own, but it also creates possibilities for new businesses and economic development in the county. It is important to the county to make full use of this potential. The county authority supports and promotes cultural activity by allocating subsidies and grants both to individual performers, festivals and other events.

The county authority is responsible for developing a culture policy for Oppland. The current action plan – “Culture policy for the future” – was approved by the County Council in September 2006.
