Bus transport for school children in Oppland County

The county municipality is responsible for organising school transport for pupils living more than 2 km from the school (1st grade pupils) and 4 km (other grades).

 

The county municipality is responsible for organising and financing school transport for pupils attending upper secondary school living more than 6 km from the school.

 

Pupils with a home address in OpplandCounty (registered in the National Directory of Residents) who satisfy all relevant requirements are entitled to compensation for expenses relating to school transport.

Pupils who do not have access to timely public transportation to school may apply for a grant to compensate for transportation expenses.

  

Application forms and information brochures will be sent to all secondary schools in and outside of Oppland at the beginning of the school year, so that pupils will know what rights they are entitled to under the guidelines. Each individual application will be assessed on an individual basis, and there are a number requirements that must be satisfied (An overview of the rules is available by looking in the transport guidelines for secondary schools). Pupils who satisfy the requirements may receive compensation per kilometre (as per new rate set by Ministry of Education) for transportation by private vehicle.

 

Pupils residing in Oppland County who go to school in another county must satisfy the following requirements to be entitled to compensation for travel expenses:

 

An application for compensation may also be sent for transport in connection with the obligatory placement in apprenticeship programs. The general rules for such compensation must be satisfied and the site must be chosen as close to school or home as possible.
